Lucerne, Switzerland
Lucerne is perhaps my favorite city in Switzerland (though Montreux is in close competition). The fact that the first time I was there they were in the midst of a Blues festival really helped, but even so it's a really neat town.

Right off the train you can tell it's a nice town.

This bridge over the river is classically Lucerne. It is, by far, the most photographed sight in town.

Lucerne is mostly surrounded by mountains...

... and Lake Lucerne (this is the Art Museum seen from the main traffic bridge across the river).
A view across the river
Lucerne apparently did not participate in the European Fountain Proliferation Agreement, either.
They are pretty blatant in showing off their fountain technology.
This one did have some cool statues.
Very ornate decorations on the side of a hotel.
This is the old city wall... I don't think it was originally intended to have cars driving through it...
More of the wall... there's a walk along it that I'd like to take.
View from on top of the wall.
Many of the doorways sport crests like this. I think it's a family crest or something...
Big mountains...
A really neat church. The bells were ringing at the time... can you tell?

It's hard to tell what they are doing here, but I had to take this picture for the folks at work... they are playing...

BOCCI!!!

Lucerne at night is gorgeous. This is from the Art Museum terrace.

The end - thanks for visiting.
