| Golden Pass Line (Lucerne to Montreux, Switzerland) | |

The Golden Rail Line runs from Lucerne to Montreux and travels through some of the most picturesque land in Switzerland. |

Since my destination on this particular weekend was Eastern Switzerland (I had not chosen an end-point to my trip), I decided to take it and see where it lead. |

I was not disappointed. The Golden Pass was a very nice, comfortable train and the scenery was breath-taking. |

The panoramic cars, with their extra-wide and tall windows made photography very easy. |

There we 3 separate legs to the journey on different trains. Some of the trains had windows that opened, allowing the traveller to lean out perilously as the train crosses chasms and clings to mountain sides like a centipede on steroids. |

Yes, I've seem dozens and dozens of mountains these past 2 months... but they are still impressive... |

...all of them. |

I'd like to take some hikes to get better and closer views of the many waterfalls that seem to be everywhere. |

Eventually the train made it to Montreux, and I spent the night there. The next day I did some sight seeing. |

On the way out of Montreux (back to Lucerne on the Golden Pass again), there was more to see. This is a view of the west end of Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). Montreux is somewhere below. |

I can never get used to how *green* all these valleys are. |

Now why would anyone travel any other way? |
